Marine Propulsion Service Technician

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Service Technician to join our team at Southern Thrusters LLC. As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment associated with the marine propulsion service industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in services to perform quality repairs, commissioning, and/or new construction installation.
- Assist to perform basic trouble shooting on the marine propulsion equipment listed in the objectives.
- Write out Job Sheets when necessary.
- Participate in afterhours callouts or emergency callouts.
- Maintain the shop and surrounding grounds in good order including building maintenance when needed.
- Pick up parts and supplies from vendors when necessary.
- Assist in hurricane procedures when required.
- Maintain a clean and organized workplace.
- Stay up to date on safety training and OSHA requirements.
Requirements:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to apply common knowledge to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Valid TWIC and Drivers License (Passport a plus).
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the Service Technician is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear, swim. It is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, or balance. The assistant must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. These tasks are performed day or night and in all types of weather conditions. Work on/near deep water and electricity.
