Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Firearms Training Specialist to join our team at Olgoonik Corporation. As a Senior Range Safety Officer and Firearms Instructor, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and presenting firearms training courses, as well as evaluating training effectiveness to ensure that objectives are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Range Safety Officer: Operate the Diplomatic Security (DS) range facility and judgmental use of force facility, ensuring compliance with OSHA and/or EPA standards and regulations.
  • Firearms Training Instructor: Plan, organize, and instruct/manages the presentation of firearms training courses, which may include basic and advanced firearms and use of deadly force.
  • Scenario-Based Training: Conduct firearms and deadly force scenario-based training, providing appropriate after-action reviews and feedback to trainees.
  • Subject Matter Expert: Apply U.S. Constitutional law, relevant case law, and DS policies to firearms training and use of force scenarios.
  • Training Evaluation: Evaluate training effectiveness to ensure that training objectives have been met.
  • Compliance: Comply with all Federal Law Enforcement Training and Accreditation (FLETA) standards, as well as all DS and Firearms Training program policies, procedures, and standards.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma, Associates Degree preferred.
  • Experience: Seven (7) years of firearms instructor experience required, with evidence of increasing work responsibility in a firearms training environment.
  • Certifications: Must be a certified firearms training instructor, completion of a recognized instructor development training course.
  • Security Clearance: Possess or be able to obtain/maintain a SECRET security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Supervisory Experience: Five (5) years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Level III Instructor: Two (2) years as a level III instructor preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • People and Organizational Skills: Excellent people and organizational skills.
  • Firearms Expertise: Proficient in firing, handling, and giving instruction on a variety of revolvers, pistols, submachine guns, carbines, rifles, machine guns, and grenade launchers.
  • Health and Safety Standards: Expert knowledge of health and safety standards for firearms ranges and training facilities.
  • Security Concepts: Advanced knowledge of security concepts, principles, and practices to provide basic training in the application of firearms use.
  • Protective Security Methods: Advanced knowledge of current protective security methods to provide instruction that is consistent with currently accepted methods and practices.
Physical Demands
  • Physical Exertion: Ability to complete work requiring regular and recurring physical exertion, including periods of standing, occasional heavy lifting, and irregular hours in both training and protective service operations.
  • Unpleasant Conditions: Ability to work outdoors where conditions may be unpleasant or uncomfortable, irregular and unscheduled hours, and with exposure to personal risks.
Travel

Periodic local travel and occasionally, travel to other areas within and outside the United States may be required.
