Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a meticulous and dependable Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will undertake a range of accounting responsibilities, including ledger oversight, reconciliation, financial reporting, and compliance audits. A solid grasp of accounting principles, exceptional numerical skills, and the ability to manage financial data with confidentiality are essential for this role. This position will report directly to the CFO.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of precise monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
  • Account Reconciliation: Review bank statement reconciliations and ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions in the general ledger.
  • Budgeting: Contribute to the budget preparation and financial forecasting processes.
  • Tax Compliance: Support the external preparation of tax returns and adherence to federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Audit Assistance: Aid in internal and external audits to ensure compliance with financial laws and regulations.
  • Accounts Management: Assist with accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing of payments and collections.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct regular ledger maintenance and financial analysis to support strategic financial decisions.
  • Process Optimization: Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting department.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years in a staff accounting role.
  • Industry Knowledge: Previous accounting experience in the construction or industrial sector is advantageous.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and databases (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

This is a full-time role that may necessitate additional hours during financial closing periods or audit seasons.
