Job Summary

This position plays a critical role in achieving sales growth and account penetration within an assigned territory. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and selling Sysco's products and services to existing and prospective customers, with a focus on building strong relationships and driving sales profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain business relationships with current and prospective customers to generate new business opportunities.
  • Make in-person visits and presentations to existing and prospective customers to showcase Sysco's products and services.
  • Take customer orders with a focus on maximizing sales and gross profit/stop.
  • Participate in the review and oversight of customer orders via communication with inside sales partners.
  • Respond promptly to customer problems and needs.
  • Review and analyze daily/weekly sales and margin reports to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date on product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, and industry trends.
  • Participate in Sysco's training and customer events, as well as sales meetings with Sysco Sales leaders.
  • Develop relationships with accounts payable contacts at every account.
  • Coordinate communication between accounts payable and Sysco's account receivable manager/representative.
  • Implement effective credit and return management practices to control days sales outstanding (DSOs) and minimize costly credits and returns.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma required; 4-year degree in culinary arts, business, marketing, agriculture/animal science, or related studies preferred.
  • 2-year prior food service and/or sales background strongly preferred.
  • Center of the Plate/Meat Proteins sales experience preferred.
Professional Skills
  • Deep expertise in the meat and seafood category or restaurant/culinary background with a demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new knowledge.
  • Consultative sales ability.
  • Self-motivation and accountability for time management without constant supervisor direction.
  • Strong customer relations skills and a sense of urgency in meeting customer needs.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Outlook.
