Position Overview

Winston Salem Dog Care is a reputable and established local pet care service dedicated to providing dogs with the exercise and attention they require while their owners are unavailable. Our mission is to deliver an exceptional experience for both our clients and staff, while enjoying the companionship, physical activity, and fresh air that this role offers.

We cater to various communities in the region and are currently looking to fill multiple shifts:

  • Weekdays (morning and afternoon shifts)
  • Weekends (morning and afternoon shifts)
  • Availability for at least one weekend per month is required.
  • Additional earning opportunities may be available beyond scheduled shifts.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation for this role ranges from $15 to $20 per hour, with staff being compensated based on services performed.

  • 100% of client gratuities go to the staff.

Job Summary

  • This role is designed as part-time, starting at approximately 15 hours per week, with potential to reach up to 30-40 hours.
  • We prioritize minimizing travel time by assigning staff to a limited coverage area.
  • Dogs from different families are not grouped together, ensuring manageable control of up to two dogs at a time.
  • Additional care for other animals may be assigned based on experience.
  • The position requires physical stamina to walk for extended periods and manage dogs of various sizes in different weather conditions.
  • All staff members are employed directly, with schedules that may vary based on weekly demands, necessitating strong communication skills and responsiveness to scheduling notifications.
  • This role is particularly rewarding for individuals passionate about animal care and who enjoy an active, outdoor lifestyle. It is an excellent opportunity for freelancers, stay-at-home parents, retirees, and students with consistent availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Traveling to client appointments according to a set schedule.
  • Walking dogs for a minimum of 15 minutes.
  • Following client and management instructions attentively.
  • Maintaining regular communication with management during operational hours.
  • Utilizing our dog walking software and app effectively.

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience in dog care is essential, including dog walking, veterinary technician roles, breeding, rescue work, or personal pet ownership.
  • A genuine passion for dogs and other animals.
  • Physical capability to remain active for several hours each day.
  • Comfortable using technology, particularly smartphones.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for potential emergencies.
  • Effective time management abilities.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bonus: Volunteer experience at animal shelters or rescues.
