Job Overview

The Installation Team Leader is tasked with overseeing the operations of a mobile installation crew while actively participating as a hands-on member of the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and organizes the activities of a traveling installation crew, including subcontractors when necessary. Responsible for determining workflow and various job-related decisions.
  • Aligns work schedules with Project Managers to ensure installation tasks meet project requirements.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for clients, representing Universal Dynamics Inc in essential meetings, maintaining communication regarding project status, and securing project completion approvals.
  • Develops travel plans for installation team members.
  • Adheres to safety protocols; utilizes appropriate safety gear, comprehends safe work practices, and ensures no team member engages in unsafe work practices.
  • Delivers progress reports to accurately document team activities.
  • Coordinates site requirements with Project Managers, including necessary parts, tools, schematics, equipment, and change order requests.
  • Possesses the ability to act as a Site Supervisor, managing the work of other contractors when necessary.
  • Travels to client locations via vehicle or air to install Universal Dynamics equipment, with travel requirements varying based on job demands.
  • When not engaged in installation tasks, performs various duties at the Universal Dynamics facility.
  • Ensures the work site is tidy before leaving; promotes good housekeeping practices among the crew.
  • Coordinates the return of surplus hardware and equipment to Universal Dynamics or vendors, collaborating with Project Managers and shipping departments.
  • Reviews and approves crew members' submitted hours based on job assignments and inputs data into the payroll system for timely processing.

Qualifications:


• Valid Driver's License: Required for operating company vehicles, including trucks and trailers. Ability to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) is necessary.


• Equipment Training/Certification: Must be trained or certified (or able to obtain certifications) in operating forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other necessary equipment.


• Safety Certification: Completion of OSHA 30-hour construction course certification or other safety training as mandated by Universal Dynamics or clients. Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety and ensures crew compliance with safety standards.


• Communication Skills: Must effectively communicate with clients, Project Managers, crew members, and sales teams. Provides accurate estimates and updates as required.


• Experience: Typically requires five (5) or more years of relevant experience; a minimum of two (2) years of direct experience is essential.


• Leadership Ability: Proven track record of effectively managing and directing the work of others.


• Technical Skills: Experience in, or willingness to learn, piping work, structural installation, equipment installation, and electrical control wiring.


• Industrial Knowledge: Strong understanding of industrial process machinery, piping systems, and ductwork.


• Technical Analysis: Demonstrated ability to analyze flow diagrams, ISO drawings, and factory layout plans to conceptualize optimal piping and wiring configurations.


• Physical Capability: Ability to perform physical installation tasks for 8-12 hours daily, including at typical factory or silo heights.


• Attention to Detail: Highly detail-oriented and precise in all tasks.


• Customer Service: Dedicated to delivering efficient, high-quality customer service.


• Organizational Skills: Capable of organizing, prioritizing, and managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
