We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manufacturing Operations Supervisor to join our team at Hood Lumber. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for providing direct supervision and leadership to team members to support the operations of our lumber mill.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Supervision: Provide direct supervision and leadership to team members to ensure the smooth operation of the lumber mill.
- Operational Excellence: Work with the Mill Manager, Superintendent, and other supervisors to optimize productivity and maintain the highest standards of safety and quality.
- Production Planning: Supervise operations to ensure planned output at the highest practical efficiency, and work with peers and supervisor to develop production schedules and budgets.
- Quality Control: Ensure quality standards are met throughout the manufacturing process, and identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce costs, and maximize the quality, value, and recovery of lumber produced.
- Employee Development: Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to employees, and observe workers for potential future leadership potential.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare required operating reports, and maintain documentation for department operations, counseling notices, attendance, etc.
- Education and Experience: Post-secondary education preferred, but not required. Minimum of 1-2 years of supervisory experience, with knowledge and experience with lumber manufacturing and sawmill operations preferred.
- Skills and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills, proven leadership abilities, ability to work effectively in a team environment, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to handle multiple priorities under demanding circumstances.
- Additional Requirements: Ability to work flexible work schedules, including nights, weekends, and after hours if necessary, and must be willing to work in a fast-paced environment.
