Job Summary

This position is responsible for ensuring the availability and readiness of equipment in patient rooms, ensuring it is both safe and convenient. The role also involves accurately accounting for equipment and serving as a liaison with materials management to maintain appropriate stock levels on the unit.

Key Responsibilities

1. Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms to ensure patients' ECGs are observed and accurately interpreted, promptly reporting any changes from baseline to the register nurse.
2. Measure ECG data, including rate, rhythm, PR, QRS, and QTc intervals, with minimal assistance, and account for telemetry packs, ensuring each pack in use has an associated ECG rhythm.
3. Maintain specified telemetry equipment, preparing telemetry ECG packs with new batteries and leads prior to patient admission, cleaning packs at discharge, and allocating them to storage spaces for the next patient.
4. Maintain admission/discharge log books, providing backup data, and assist in tracking patient locations when off telemetry monitoring for procedures, communicating with RNs when patients return, and providing interdisciplinary teams with patient ECG data as requested.
5. Assist in training new associates by sharing knowledge and skills, promoting the mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED is required, and prior experience in a comparable healthcare setting is preferred. The individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with regular attendance and ability to work nights and weekends required for identified positions.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to see and read information, labels, and assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and frequently interact with patient care providers, patients, and visitors, requiring verbal communication, hearing, and understanding spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergencies.
