Unit Telemetry Specialist

Job Summary

This role is responsible for ensuring the availability and readiness of equipment in patient rooms, ensuring it is safe and convenient. The successful candidate will also be responsible for accurately interpreting ECG rhythms and reporting changes to the register nurse. Additionally, they will maintain specified telemetry equipment, prepare telemetry ECG packs, and implement crash cart checks according to hospital policy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Continuously monitor cardiac rhythm and accurately interpret ECG rhythms.
  • Measure ECG data, including rate, rhythm, PR, QRS, and QTc intervals.
  • Maintain specified telemetry equipment, including preparing telemetry ECG packs and cleaning them at patient discharge.
  • Implement crash cart checks according to hospital policy.
  • Assist in training new associates and promote the mission, vision, and values of SCL Health.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must pass a basic dysrhythmia test prior to completion of orientation.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval.
Physical Requirements

This role requires regular attendance, ability to work nights and/or weekends, and manual dexterity to manipulate complex equipment. The employee must also be able to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients and navigate crowded and busy rooms.
