Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Freight Import Specialist to join our team at Ceva Logistics. As a key member of our import team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient receipt of inbound freight shipments from points of origin.

Key Responsibilities
  • Freight Receipt and Documentation: Receive and inspect freight shipments, documentation, and waybills; assess charges and collect fees for shipments.
  • Software System Management: Open files on our dedicated software system for each shipment received and ensure accurate data entry.
  • Customer Communication: Respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, or in-person, providing timely and accurate information.
  • Problem Resolution: Negotiate with domestic customers and foreign customers to resolve problems and arrive at mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Examine invoices and shipping manifests for conformity to tariff and customs regulations, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Customs Clearance: Contract with customs officials to affect the release of incoming freight and resolve customs delays.
  • Freight Billing and Payment: Itemize changes, prepare freight bills, accept payments, and issue refunds as necessary.
  • Communication and Notification: Notify consignees of delays in shipment departure and provide Proof of Delivery (POD) to shippers upon request.
  • Document Verification: Examine documents such as invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to verify the conversion of merchandise weights or volumes into the system used by other countries.
  • Currency Conversion: Convert foreign currency figures into United States monetary equivalents or domestic currency into foreign equivalents.
  • Tariff Calculation: Calculate duties or tariffs to be paid on merchandise.
  • International Correspondence: Correspond with foreign companies to resolve issues and facilitate smooth import operations.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED, minimum two to three years related experience in import logistics or a related field.
  • Customer Focus: Strong customer service skills, with the ability to provide excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Analytical and Technical Skills: Good analytical skills, strong PC skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge and Understanding: Thorough knowledge and understanding of sea freight products and environments.
  • Leadership and Motivation: Self-starter, disciplined, with leadership and motivational abilities to provide cover and assistance on a regular basis.
  • Organization and Problem-Solving: Excellent organization skills, with the ability to manage own time and priorities workload to meet internal and external expectations.
