PRIMARY PURPOSE :


The Educational Support Specialist will report directly to the principal, while being under the daily guidance of the assigned educator.

This role requires the ability to perform tasks that may involve light to moderate lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling, and the capacity to walk and/or stand for extended periods.

Essential functions include vision, hearing, and verbal communication, which are crucial for executing required tasks, duties, and responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :


Associate's Degree or two years (60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours) of college education OR a high school diploma/GED with successful completion of the Georgia Paraprofessional Assessment Certification Test.

A valid Paraprofessional Certificate is required.
Must demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with both adults and students, alongside possessing strong communication skills.
Must be well-organized and exhibit effective time management abilities.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES :
Assist individual students or small groups in receiving intervention or enrichment activities as directed by the educator.
Support the educator in applying specialized strategies to reinforce concepts or skills tailored to the unique needs of each student.
Help implement and document individualized strategies to address behavioral needs of students.
Supervise students as required.
Notify the educator of any concerns or important information regarding students.

Act as the primary resource for any substitute educator during their absence.

Assist in reviewing student work without assigning or recording grades.
Provide clerical support to the educator as needed.

Help prepare instructional materials, including the development of learning centers, manipulatives, and the creation of display/bulletin boards.

Assist in the procurement and inventory management of classroom supplies and equipment.
Participate in required training workshops.
Maintain confidentiality regarding all school-related information pertaining to students, staff, and school operations.
Attend faculty meetings and other necessary gatherings.
Keep paraprofessional certification current as mandated by the Professional Standards Commission.
Foster positive working relationships with colleagues.

Be physically capable of performing tasks that may involve light to heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling, and must be able to walk and/or stand for a minimum of six (6) hours with breaks.

Assist with classroom cleanliness and upkeep.
Support various school-wide duty assignments, including car rider, bus, or lunchroom duties.
Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal.
