This role will significantly contribute to Stantec's achievements by spearheading the architectural-engineering team in the planning, execution, and delivery of projects with construction values ranging from $30 million to over $200 million.
This position demands sound judgment, excellent interpersonal skills, and effective methodologies to ensure project success.
You will serve as the technical leader for the Buildings/AE team, collaborating closely with the project manager to deliver optimal projects within established timelines.
Your Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and manage technical teams on various projects.
2. Ensure adherence to project timelines.
3. Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing expert knowledge on codes, standards, building systems, and materials.
4. Develop technical specifications for diverse projects.
5. Engage in design development through sketches, digital models, diagrams, and massing studies.
6. Utilize BIM technologies to create three-dimensional models of buildings and their components.
7. Participate in design reviews and critiques.
8. Serve as the technical lead for design-build initiatives.
9. Interpret and apply building codes and regulatory requirements.
10. Prepare and revise documentation across various architectural phases, including site plans, floor plans, elevations, sections, and specifications.
Additionally, you will:
1. Participate in bidding and negotiation phases, preparing necessary addenda.
2. Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFIs, and prepare site observation reports.
3. Coordinate project meetings with internal and external team members, owners, contractors, and subcontractors.
4. Manage the technical team and the process of creating contract documents.
5. Engage in client meetings to discuss project requirements, conduct value analysis, and assist in basic cost estimating.
6. Coordinate specifications with construction documents.
7. Participate in constructability reviews.
8. Conduct quality assurance and quality control on assigned projects.
Qualifications
Your capabilities include:
1. Familiarity with Unified Facilities Criteria and California Building Codes.
2. Strong understanding of all phases of architectural document production and the interplay between drawings and specifications.
3. Ability to develop technical project specifications.
4. In-depth knowledge of building construction systems, materials, and industry standards.
5. Proficiency in space planning and block planning in alignment with building programs.
6. Expertise in developing floor plans, wall sections, and details using Revit.
7. Capacity to review the work of others for accuracy and completeness while managing time effectively to meet project budgets and schedules.
8. Ability to lead teams through all phases of architectural document production.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in Architecture is required, along with a valid Architect license. Candidates must possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in the architectural-engineering sector, with at least 5 years in a project architect role leading the AE team. LEED accreditation is advantageous.
