We are seeking a Funeral Services Representative to join our team at Service Corporation International.

Job Summary:

The Funeral Services Representative will be responsible for leading generation, building relationships with families, and providing seamless, high-quality service. This role requires a strong understanding of customer service skills, ability to work a number of evenings and weekends, and the ability to obtain and maintain an insurance license if required by state/province.

Responsibilities:

Lead Generation:

  • The Funeral Services Representative will hold self-accountable for prospecting a minimum of 1-2 hours each day to generate new business opportunities.
  • They will obtain referrals from families served by the location and network with community and civic relationships.
  • The representative will explain and present presentations to families served and referred families.
  • They will maintain and track activity levels to ensure productivity.

Build Relationships with Families:

  • The Funeral Services Representative will respond to client inquiries in a timely, respectful, sensitive, and professional manner.
  • They will connect with families through listening, honest communication, and genuine concern.
  • The representative will develop an understanding of each family's unique needs and offer solutions that provide value to them.
  • They will stay in touch with families to ensure satisfaction.
  • The representative will prepare for all appointments and perform all procedures with professionalism and attention to detail.
  • They will follow through on all customer problems and requests.
  • The Funeral Services Representative will build trust-based relationships to earn the right to ask for referrals.
  • They will earn the right to gain referrals to offer protection to protect family members, and the family's relatives and friends, by educating them on the benefits of pre-planning.

Teamwork:

  • The Funeral Services Representative will represent a continuous link from services provided at need, through aftercare, to providing services to protect families in the future.
  • They will collaborate and team with funeral directors, location managers, and other members of funeral home and/or cemetery staff.
  • The representative will thoroughly and completely review previous services and contacts with families to prepare to support current needs and/or sales.
  • They will share family concerns with the rest of the SCI team.

Requirements:

  • The Funeral Services Representative must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • They must have 1-2 years of college or an equivalent of education and experience.
  • The representative must have 1-2 years of customer service or sales industry experience, preferred.
  • They must have a current state/province-issued driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • The Funeral Services Representative must be able to pass the Company's internal presentation certification within thirty days of hire.
  • They must be able to work a number of evenings and/or weekends every month.
  • The representative must be able to drive frequently.
  • They must be able to obtain and maintain an insurance license if required by state/province.
  • The Funeral Services Representative must have flexible hours but, at times, must have the ability to work up to 12 hours in a day.
  • They must be able to treat others with empathy and respect.
  • The representative must have knowledge of computers and some software.
  • They must have customer service skills.
  • The Funeral Services Representative must be bilingual in Spanish.

Compensation and Benefits:

The estimated salary for this position is $40,000 - $100,000 annualized targeted first year earnings, with a base hourly rate of $17.28. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, health savings account with company contribution, sick leave, short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance, voluntary accidental death or dismemberment insurance, dependent life insurance, and SCI 401(k) retirement savings plan with company match.
