Overview

Verde Electric Corporation, established in 1993, provides services to various federal, state, county, and private organizations. Our expertise lies in constructing transportation systems for railway and airport infrastructure, including fiber optics, traction power, copper communications, electrical distribution, CCTV, and life safety systems, among others.

We are currently in search of a Safety Compliance Specialist who is proactive, eager to learn, and possesses strong analytical skills to become an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Report directly to the Safety Manager to oversee safety and security issues at the designated work site. The Safety Compliance Specialist will operate independently from the construction activities and will be available full-time to meet the contractual obligations. They will have the authority to halt operations if unsafe conditions are identified.
  2. Ensure the safe execution of tasks for all personnel under their supervision, informing them of potential hazards prior to commencing work, and promptly notifying their supervisor of any individuals who resist corrective measures or fail to improve unsafe practices.
  3. Conduct daily safety checks and document any findings along with corrective actions taken.
  4. Complete Daily Safety Reports and document any near misses or incidents.
  5. Maintain communication with all designated Competent Persons throughout their work shifts.

Qualifications

  1. Trained in NYCT, SIR LIRR, MNR, and Amtrak Track Safety as required.
  2. A minimum of ninety (90) days of prior Right of Way experience, including flagging and service diversions.
  3. Successful completion of the 40-hour NYC-Department of Buildings Site Safety Manager Course and licensure.
  4. Completion of the 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety & Health (29 CFR 1926) Course.
  5. Active membership in the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP).
  6. At least two (2) years of experience in safety or a related field.
  7. Familiarity with the nature of work being performed.
  8. Competent in instructing on-site personnel.
  9. Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  10. Possess and maintain a current State of New York or State of Connecticut Asbestos Inspectors License, as applicable.
  11. Possess and maintain a current C-3/C-5 Supervisor / Competent Person Training for De-leading of Industrial Structures Certificate.
  12. Receive a minimum of six (6) hours of relevant safety training annually for the duration of the contract.
  13. Exclusively responsible for safety matters related to the assigned work site, with no other responsibilities under this contract.
