Job Description

Dirt Corps is seeking an experienced Restoration Ecologist to join our team as a Natural Area Field Operations Manager. The successful applicant will be an energetic self-starter with a positive attitude, have an excellent grasp of restoration ecology, and be skilled at facilitating collaborative processes and fulfilling tasked objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess, bid, prep, and manage natural area jobs from site walks through job completion with support from Director of Ecology
  • Manage Crew members of varying experience on 1-4 Natural Area Restoration projects at a time
  • Create and schedule weekly work plans that generate efficient work flow and use crew time effectively with correct tools, scope, and time budgeting.
  • Support crew leads in completing daily objectives, and ensure they have all the necessary information and tools to do so (work orders, maps, tools)
  • Lead crew to plan and implement scope of natural area project, ensure accurate collection of daily metrics and other reporting required by client
  • Keep the crew involved in and accountable to the day-to-day work, as well as in their crew roles.
  • Train new crew members, and continuously support current crew members' education and development
  • Model leadership and problem solving skills in the field, and provide a platform for collective brainstorming and problem solving with crew members
  • Remain calm under pressure, stay positive, and adapt when faced with challenges
  • Monitor crew safety, including proper usage of tools and personal protective equipment.
  • Work with Directors and Safety Committee to provide required and requested safety training as well as enriching educational opportunities for the team.
  • Be able to effectively complete administrative tasks independently
  • Work with agency, NGO, and community clients to achieve stated performance metrics
  • Be an effective leader while maintaining humility and respect for all
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
Requirements:
  • Hold a valid WA Driver's license,
  • Hold a commercial aquatic pesticide license, or the ability to acquire a pesticide license within one month of job start
  • 5+ years natural area experience or 3 years and ecological degree. 2 years of restoration crew leadership experience
  • Excellent knowledge of PNW plant ecosystems and Restoration Ecology
  • Mechanical Experience using and maintaining electric and gas power tools such as weed whackers, hedge trimmers, drills, sawzalls, and more
  • Experience using mechanical and chemical vegetation management, and IPM methods in natural area restoration contexts
  • Experience with using online reporting tools such as Arc GIS Fieldmaps, Survey 123, and Google applications
  • Be excited to learn and expand knowledge and skills
  • Be excited to train and support professional learning
Benefits:
  • $33.00 to $39.00 per hour, DOE
