Key Responsibilities- Menu Planning and Execution: Develop and implement menus that meet the nutritional requirements of the United States Department of Agriculture school meal patterns.
- Food Safety and Sanitation: Ensure that all food handling and preparation procedures are followed in accordance with approved safety and sanitation requirements.
- Staff Supervision and Training: Supervise and train kitchen staff, including student workers, on food preparation techniques, safety protocols, and sanitation procedures.
- Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels, including ordering and receiving food and supplies, to ensure that the kitchen is well-stocked and that waste is minimized.
- Financial Management: Reconcile inventory and financial records, and audit and reconcile financial transactions.
- Communication and Teamwork: Establish and maintain good working relationships with kitchen staff, school administrators, and other stakeholders.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Licenses and Certifications: Valid Food Handler's Permit.
- Skills and Abilities: Ability to accurately complete necessary records, take initiative, analyze information/situations, and resolve problems or recommend effective solutions.
The School Kitchen Manager will be required to stand and walk for prolonged periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks. The ability to communicate effectively with students and adults in difficult situations is essential.
