Medical Laboratory Specialist

As a Medical Laboratory Technician at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results. Your primary responsibilities will include performing laboratory tests of moderate and high complexity, preparing and calibrating test instruments and equipment, and maintaining accurate records of test results.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and calibrate test instruments and equipment to ensure accuracy of tests.
- Prepare and collect specimens and perform laboratory tests of moderate and high complexity as defined in laboratory procedures manual.
- Discuss unexpected or unreasonable test results with supervisor.
- Report test results and related test data by entering information in computer database.
- Prepare, distribute, and file forms and reports.
- Clean instruments and equipment as needed following each test.
- Perform maintenance and minor repairs to instruments and equipment.
- Recognize equipment malfunctions and notify appropriate personnel.
- Assist newly assigned staff to learn laboratory procedures.
- Minimum two (2) years of current experience in a clinical laboratory or in related field required.
- Associate degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory technology, medical technology or successfully completed an official U.S. military medical laboratory procedures training course of at least 50 weeks duration and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician) required.
