Windows Server Operations Specialist

Position Overview:

**THIS ROLE IS LOCATED IN ATLANTA, GA** The primary function of this position is to oversee and sustain the currently utilized Microsoft (MS) Windows Server Operating Systems (OS) across both physical and virtual environments. This role necessitates strict adherence to change management protocols, including the preparation of Change Requests and obtaining necessary approvals.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage storage and data governance, particularly concerning file and folder access permissions.
  2. Facilitate the operational transition of enterprise solutions into live production.
  3. Act as the main point of contact for local server, network, and telecommunications repairs related to District infrastructure.
  4. Coordinate local efforts for IAVA vulnerability remediation.
  5. Provide Level 3 support to District technical staff.
  6. Serve as the primary escalation point for after-hours and VIP support requests.
  7. Ensure the work schedules of SAIC and subcontractor personnel are well-documented and coordinated to maintain coverage during required operational hours.
  8. Review and manage current workloads and ticket distribution, reassigning priorities in collaboration with ITC to meet service delivery metrics.
  9. Monitor the technical performance of SAIC and subcontractor staff, reporting both exemplary and disciplinary actions to the SAIC Division Manager.
  10. Oversee the recruitment, selection, training, performance evaluation, work assignments, and recognition/disciplinary actions of subordinate employees.
  11. Assess the effectiveness of Service Delivery at the local site, reporting any discrepancies and escalations to the SAIC Division Manager.

Required Skills:

Proficiency in VMware, Active Directory, Windows Server, and general Windows administration.

Additional Qualifications:

Candidates should possess a BA/BS Degree (or equivalent experience) and have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. A current DoD 8570 IA Baseline Certification, IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE) is required. An active Secret Clearance is also necessary. Experience with ticketing systems such as Remedy is preferred. Familiarity with Windows Server 2012 and 2016, VMware, and core services like Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and Group Policy is essential. Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, routing, SSH, OpenVPN) is also required. Candidates must demonstrate strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
