Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Quality Assurance Inspector at Compass Systems Inc. is responsible for the systematic examination, evaluation, and documentation of materials received, initial samples, finished goods, and ongoing production to ensure adherence to quality standards, work orders, and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Possess a foundational understanding of applicable manufacturing standards (such as J-STD-001/IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620) and military specifications AS50881 & NAVAIR 01-1A-505.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2008 and AS9100 standards.
  • Comprehension of standard mechanical techniques, including geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices.
  • Capability to verify measurements for part compliance using various measuring instruments (calipers, tape measures, pin gauges, go/no-go gauges, etc.).
  • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and validate part dimensions against specified requirements.
  • Assess additional inspection criteria based on project needs.
  • Utilize tools and equipment such as VOM, cable testers, and pull testers.
  • Conduct First Article inspections in accordance with SAE AS9102 standards and customer specifications.
  • General proficiency in data entry and computer operations.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Inspect materials for imperfections, confirming physical properties and dimensions in accordance with drawings and specifications.
  • Test materials for defects, verifying electrical and mechanical properties using various testing equipment.
  • Identify and manage nonconforming materials.
  • Calibrate tools and testing fixtures as necessary.
  • Review chemical and physical certifications, test reports, and end-of-life requirements against specifications.
  • Document inspection outcomes for acceptance or rejection following company protocols.
  • Maintain accurate logs (calibration, limited shelf life, defects, inspection/test reports).

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in Quality Control processes and methodologies.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires the employee to regularly sit, walk, see, hear, and feel. Occasionally, lifting or moving items up to 20 pounds may be necessary. The work environment is moderate in temperature and noise level. The ability to interpret data and documents is essential, along with a willingness to learn and apply new skills.
