Job Summary

This position is located at Fort Jackson, SC, and is an open continuous announcement to provide a ready pool of available applicants as needed. The selected candidate will supervise children and youth ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years during daily schedules of indoor and outdoor activities and on field trips, outings, and special events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and care for children and youth in a group program setting.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct activities for program participants based on observed needs of individual children and youth.
  • Prepare and implement program options for children and youth with special requirements.
  • Instruct team members in specific tasks and job techniques.
  • Ensure assigned area maintains standards for DoD certification and national accreditation or equivalent.
Requirements
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Meet one of the following qualifications:
    • Possess and maintain a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
    • Have two years of specialized experience working in a group program with children or youth plus an associate's degree or at least 60 semester hours with a major course of study directly related to the age group.
    • Have a bachelor's degree or at least 120 semester hours with a major course of study directly related to the age group.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience assisting with childcare or youth program national accreditation processes.
  • Experience participating in multi-disciplinary or higher-level child/youth program inspections.
  • Experience working with varying age groups (early childhood, school age, youth).
  • Experience leading or mentoring lower level childcare/youth program staff.
