Job Summary

Mccormick & Company, a leading global manufacturer of spices, flavorings, and seasonings, is seeking a skilled Distribution Technician to join its Maryland Logistics Center in Sparrows Point, MD. As a key member of the warehouse team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of customer orders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Picking and Packing: Select and package customer orders in a timely and accurate manner, utilizing an RF scanner and VMC (vehicle-mounted computer) to perform transactions successfully while operating material handling equipment.
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate a variety of industrial equipment, including motorized pallet jacks, push-off machines, wrappers, pallet flippers, and pallet dispensers as needed based on business needs.
  • Inventory Management: Utilize a computerized inventory system to track and manage inventory levels, documenting safety, quality, and performance standards as processes dictate.
  • General Warehouse Duties: Perform general warehouse duties, including sanitation, required training, and audits outside of core operations.
  • Team Collaboration: Arrive on time and engage in team meetings, startup meetings, and special projects as required.
Requirements
  • Accurate Clerical and Numerical Skills: Possess accurate clerical and numerical skills, ability to read, interpret, and follow complex procedures.
  • Equipment Operation: Ability to successfully learn to operate a variety of equipment, including a motorized pallet jack and battery charging system.
  • Performance Measurement: Ability to work in an environment where performance against specific standards is constantly measured.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Overtime and Flexibility: Ability to work overtime frequently or on short notice, inclusive of weekends and holidays.
  • Lifting and Physical Demands: Ability to lift to and including 50 pounds or more on a continuous basis.
  • Temperature and Environmental Factors: Ability to work in fluctuating temperatures inside and outside.
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to execute the SAP inventory program aligned with McCormick job aids provided.
  • Direction Following: Ability to follow written and verbal directions provided by leadership.
  • Basic PC Experience: Basic PC experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior Experience: Prior PIT (Power Industrial Equipment) experience, including a motorized pallet jack, reach truck, Sit-down forklift, and turbine truck, is preferred.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Understanding and execution of Problem-Solving skills; knowledge of Six Sigma.
  • Minimum Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in order selection, warehousing, or inventory.
  • SAP Knowledge: SAP knowledge.
