Job Title: Controls Engineer

LHH is seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to join our team in Martinsville, IN. As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for leading projects related to PLCs, automation, robotics, HMIs, continuous improvement, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and resolve process operating problems and machine faults, investigate equipment failures, and share technical assistance with workers on the production floor.
  • Troubleshoot PLC-based machinery on the production floor and conduct appropriate follow-up on resolutions.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of equipment-related issues.
  • Contribute to the design, improvement, and implementation of automation throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Upgrade obsolete controls and programming on existing equipment.
  • Identify and repair system issues, sensors, and equipment.
  • Program and maintain HMI at each production center/cell.
  • Contribute to the development of the organization's preventative maintenance and continuous improvement strategies and implement tools and methodologies.
  • Coordinate with engineering and production personnel to develop a shared vision for the completion of daily engineering tasks and then report on those activities.
  • Ensure that all safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering is required.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of controls and/or automation engineering experience within a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot (or complete basic programming) using Allen Bradley PLCs.
  • Must have experience and an understanding of Ladder Logic.
  • Must have experience leading or assisting with automation projects within a manufacturing facility.
  • Ideal candidates will have experience upgrading obsolete controls and programming.
  • Must possess the ability to read blueprints and have experience with design systems.
  • Must possess strong analytical, trouble-shooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a highly motivated, self-starter who is able to succeed with little supervision.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively work as part of a cross-functional team.
