We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Cynet Health. As a Medical Laboratory Specialist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform all levels of general testing within the analytical laboratory.
  • Apply a high level of technical knowledge to testing and ensure clinical relevance.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhering to policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Generate and report accurate results for diagnoses and prognoses to influence patient care.
  • Organize and execute duties efficiently within the required time frame.
  • Promote and maintain a positive, team-oriented, and service-conscious environment.
  • Communicate and document critical results accurately and timely.
  • Utilize critical thinking and independent judgment to correlate and interpret data.
  • Compile and review lab information system (LIS) reports to ensure proper sample collection and testing.
  • Resolve unusual test orders by collaborating with caregivers and referring labs.
  • Participate in the training and orientation of new associates and students.
  • Engage in inspections and may participate in projects, teams, or committees.
  • Attend department and hospital meetings and forums.
  • Responsible for operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instruments and document activities appropriately.
  • Complete required quality control and maintenance, recognizing variances and documenting corrective actions.
  • Detect and document deviations from defined procedures.
  • Acknowledge receipt of specimens in the laboratory information system.
  • Assess priority, assure appropriate specimen identification and types.
  • Order and process samples for hospital-registered and outreach patients.
  • Centrifuge, aliquot, and distribute samples to the appropriate testing area.
  • Prepare samples for off-site testing, including assessment of sample type, container, and temperature.
  • Complete related paperwork and computer documentation.
  • Floating may be required to various locations within sixty miles or as identified by policy, possibly involving duties outside original job requirements.

Requirements:

  • 9 years of related work experience preferred
  • Associate Degree or completion of a 50-week course leading to a specialty in Medical Laboratory Specialist or equivalent
  • Medical Laboratory Technician-ASCP certification required within 6 months of hire
