Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Firefighter to join our team at the City of Lake Wales. As a Firefighter, you will be responsible for protecting life and property by performing firefighting, emergency aid, and rescue duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform firefighting activities, including driving fire apparatus, operating pumps, and laying hose.
  • Provide emergency aid and rescue services, including administering first aid and providing other assistance as required.
  • Participate in fire drills, attend classes in firefighting, emergency medical, and hazardous materials.
  • Operate radio and other communication equipment and keep logs as required.
  • Maintain fire equipment, apparatus, and facilities.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must meet the requirements set by the Firefighters Standards Council and complete training and courses prescribed by departmental regulations.
  • Valid Florida Class D driver's license.
  • No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories within the past seven years.
  • U.S. citizen.
  • Ability to read and write the English language.
