Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing basic life support at the scene of an accident or illness and during transport under the direction of the Paramedic and MH Emergency Services (EMS) protocols as approved by the EMS medical director and/or online medical control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide basic life support care at the scene of an accident or illness
  • Transport patients under the direction of the Paramedic and MH Emergency Services (EMS) protocols
  • Provide basic life support care at the hospital under the direction of the Registered Nurse or provider
Requirements
  • Current certification as a Certified Emergency Medical Technician by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, Emergency Medical Service Commission
  • Possess a valid driver's license and a minimum of three years of satisfactory driving performance
  • Current CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year healthcare experience
  • Knowledge of healthcare policies and governmental regulations pertinent to Ambulance Department
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively and tactfully communicate with patients and their families and guests, co-workers, managers, Hospital Administrators, providers, consultants, business associates and regulatory agencies
Working Conditions
  • Typical emergency management clinical environment with frequent standing and walking
  • Work may be subject to interruptions
  • Exposure to potentially violent situations
  • Risk of occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious, electrical and radiation hazards
