Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Conservation Specialist to join our team at Tucson Audubon Society. As a key member of our Restoration Crew, you will play a critical role in the management and control of invasive plant species in the Desert Southwest region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct fieldwork to identify and map invasive species, including manual, chemical, and prescribed treatment as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of treatment sites, application data, and field observations.
  • Collaborate with federal agencies, other Tucson Audubon crews, and stakeholders to achieve conservation goals.
  • Participate in habitat restoration and conservation projects, including mechanical and chemical weed control, habitat creation, and erosion control.
  • Communicate program and project outcomes to the public, funders, and staff through reports, articles, and presentations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 18+ years old.
  • Proficient in using maps and GPS units.
  • Experience with computer software, including Office and G-suite applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Flexible approach to work and work schedule.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Applicator license for herbicides or experience working with pesticides.
  • Experience working on a field crew, especially in remote settings.
  • Experience operating vehicles towing a trailer, driving off-road, and on the highway.
  • Proficiency with GIS software.
  • Mechanical skills required for small engine repair.
