Heavy Machinery Operator

POSITION SUMMARY
The primary function of this role is to manage and operate machinery essential for completing various projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates a range of heavy machinery, including backhoes and excavators.
- Conducts maintenance activities such as trimming trees, mowing lawns, and laying asphalt and concrete.
- Adds to customer satisfaction by addressing and resolving complaints.
- Undertakes additional tasks as necessary.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, along with three (3) years of relevant experience, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements:
Must hold and maintain a valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the necessary endorsements.
Skills and Abilities:
- Capable of compiling, assembling, and transcribing data according to established guidelines; able to assess whether observable characteristics align with set standards.
- Effective in exchanging information to clarify details within established policies and procedures.
- Proficient in operating and controlling machinery and tools necessary for performing essential tasks.
- Able to utilize various reference materials and data.
- Competent in basic arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Skilled in following instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form, with some discretion for independent judgment.
- Exhibits sound judgment and creativity in handling a variety of predefined duties that may frequently change.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position involves heavy work, requiring the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Hearing: Ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels, with or without correction.
- Mental Acuity: Capable of making rational decisions through logical reasoning.
- Repetitive Motion: Involves substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Speaking: Ability to express ideas clearly and convey detailed instructions to coworkers.
- Visual Acuity: Requires close visual acuity for tasks such as data analysis, transcription, and extensive reading.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work may be conducted in conditions that expose the operator to various environmental factors, including dirt, dust, humidity, noise, and other potentially hazardous materials.
