Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team at the City of Omaha. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing laws, maintaining public safety, and providing exceptional service to our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce federal, state, county, and city laws through de-escalation techniques and identification, apprehension, and arrest of potential suspects
  • Conduct investigations and gather evidence to support cases
  • Participate in various patrol activities and traffic investigations as assigned
  • Use appropriate force when necessary, including the use of firearms and weapons
  • Serve as a first responder to disaster and emergency incidents
  • Communicate effectively with law enforcement and emergency personnel, citizens, witnesses, offenders, and victims
  • Safeguard and account for evidence and non-department property
  • Perform administrative activities, including writing reports and completing required documentation
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Citizen of the United States prior to completion of certification training
  • Twenty-one years of age prior to completion of the training program
  • Valid motor vehicle operator's license
  • Good character as determined by background investigation
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at the eleventh grade level
  • Certified by a licensed physician as able to meet the physical requirements of a police officer
