Job Summary:

As a Certified Nursing Assistant Medical Telemetry Specialist at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care to those who are ill or recovering from surgery or disease. Your responsibilities will include assisting patients with hygiene care, obtaining vital signs, and communicating effectively with the care team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to patient care needs by answering call lights, assisting patients with hygiene care, obtaining vital signs, and communicating constructively with members of the care team.
  • Perform 12-lead EKG duties commensurate with the level of training received and competency.
  • Apply, check, and document restraints as directed by the RN or physician.
  • Perform wound care, stoma care, and specimen collection.
  • Assist with patient transfers, admissions, and discharges as directed and in compliance with the principles of safe patient handling.
  • Order and maintain office and patient care floor stock/supplies.
  • Perform the duties of unit secretary, including maintaining patient charts, responding to phone calls, maintaining daily assignment boards, providing equipment care/cleaning, and performing errands associated with patient care.
  • Assist physicians and RNs as directed.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of an accredited nursing assistant training program.
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of practice.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.

Work Environment:

Our medical unit is a 26-bed unit with a wide variety of patients and diagnoses. Your role will be to assist patients in ambulation, bathing, feeding, admission, and discharge. You may also be a patient sitter. You will have the opportunity to be a preceptor after six months of employment. It is a great unit for learning and obtaining and perfecting skills.
