Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Neuroscience Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. The successful candidate will provide advanced nursing care and physician support to patients in the Neuroscience Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain a thorough patient history, including determination of the chief complaint and analysis of primary symptomatology.
  • Perform an appropriate physical examination and recognize normal and abnormal findings.
  • Make recommendations for ordering ancillary studies, developing a problem list, and formulating a differential or actual diagnosis.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic and laboratory tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs.
  • Determine and implement therapeutic plans, writing orders to implement therapeutic plans and communicating with supervising physicians regarding pertinent patient information.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other members of the health care team in patient care planning.
  • Utilize assessment skills and collaborate with other disciplines to develop a comprehensive education plan to meet patient/family needs.
  • Function independently and in collaboration with physician rounding in the Sub Acute facilities, working with nursing, ancillary staff, and Home Care Organizations to decrease length of stay while maintaining high quality care.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • MSN with Advanced Practice Nurse credentials.
  • Minimum of 5 years RN/Specialty experience.
  • Demonstrates effective communication and leadership skills, including teaching principles, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in the Nurse Practitioner role.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Advance Practice Nurse License.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
