Position Summary:
As a Clinical Cytology Specialist, you will play a vital role in our Cytology/Pathology Laboratory, performing essential duties under the guidance of licensed pathologists. Your expertise in cytology will be crucial for accurate diagnoses, and your ability to manage specimens with precision will contribute significantly to patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:

  • Conduct cytological examinations and analyses under the supervision of pathologists.
  • Recognize unusual specimens and implement appropriate handling procedures.
  • Efficiently coordinate workload based on volume and urgency.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:

  • Completion of training requirements for board certification and licensure by Laboratory Field Services (LFS) California Department of Public Health (CDPH).
  • Bachelor's Degree with specific coursework: 20 semester or equivalent quarter units in biological sciences and 8 semester or equivalent quarter units in mathematics.
  • Training or experience in a 12-month cytotechnologist program accredited by CA AHEP or equivalent.
  • Five years of full-time clinical laboratory experience in cytology within the last ten years, with at least two years post-academic training under a licensed physician who is a board-eligible pathologist.
  • Current California Cytotechnologist License (LIC CT) and ASCP certification for cytotechnologist.

  • Proficiency in entering tests into the computer system for both inpatients and outpatients, while adhering to Medicare Compliance and Medical Necessity regulations.
  • Capability to accurately perform tests and operate instruments under the direct supervision of pathologists or licensed clinical laboratory scientists.
