Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented School Nutrition Specialist to join our team at Franklin County Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of our students by preparing and serving nutritious meals in a clean and sanitary environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend in-service training and workshops to stay up-to-date on the latest nutrition and food safety guidelines.
  • Clean and maintain food preparation and serving areas to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Evaluate prepared food for quality and presentation to ensure it meets our high standards.
  • Inspect food items and supplies to ensure they meet quality and quantity standards.
  • Inventory food and supplies to ensure we have enough for the next day's menu.
  • Assist with the completion of daily production records and monthly physical inventory.
  • Maintain equipment and storage areas to ensure they are clean and well-maintained.
  • Report any problems or accidents to the manager immediately.
  • Keep accurate records of food used and student accounts.
  • Merchandise food and beverage items to ensure they are served efficiently and effectively.
  • Monitor kitchen and cafeteria areas to ensure a safe and sanitary working environment.
  • Prepare and serve food according to standardized recipes and procedures.
  • Receive and store food and supplies according to temperature and food spoilage guidelines.
  • Report needed supplies and equipment malfunctions to the manager.
  • Maintain organization and planning for food supply and preparation needs.
  • Serve food according to mandated nutritional requirements and student requests.
  • Collect and reconcile cash and computer-generated reports.
  • Maintain personal appearance and hygiene according to policy.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure. You will also need to be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
