Job Summary

The Service Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Service Department. This position is responsible for assisting with all aspects of service department operations, including unit inventory procedures, pre-delivery inspection, and delivery orientation. The Service Specialist will also assist customers with service and warranty repairs, as well as provide support with the sale of parts and accessories.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to ensure a positive and productive shopping experience for all customers.
  • Greet new unit delivery, service, warranty, and parts customers in a friendly and efficient manner.
  • Answer service, warranty, and parts questions over the phone and in person.
  • Assist the Receiving Department with unloading, inspecting, and verifying the VIN of new units delivered by the manufacturer.
  • Affix bar code labels to units received and update lot location in the Dealership Management system.
  • Maintain unit inventory status communication in the Dealership Management system and assist with physical inventories.
  • Print daily unit delivery schedules to prepare for upcoming orientations.
  • Conduct final PDI and inspect detailing of all units scheduled for delivery, reporting any issues to the Service Manager and providing VIN verification to the Business Analyst.
  • Confirm correct rigging and accessory mounting instructions against the work order.
  • Prepare Owner's Delivery Packet and delivery documents in advance of pickup.
  • Explain unit and accessory operation, break-in, and maintenance procedures to customers.
  • Assist service customers with documenting concerns on the Repair Order.
  • Assist the Service Manager with creating related work orders and keeping customers informed of estimates for needed repairs and progress toward completion.
  • Assist the Marine GSM and senior management with scheduling work to be performed in the department.
  • Remain up-to-date on product warranty policies and procedures.
  • Assist with warranty repair authorization and related work order creation, receiving and selling parts within the Dealership Management system, and accepting parts and work order payments, compiling daily batch reports, and reconciling till transactions.
  • Assist management and the Business Analyst to ensure no unit is released until payment is received in full.
  • Maintain a clean and professional work area.
Requirements
  • High School education or equivalent experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to complete simple math calculations.
  • Ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with customers, vendors, and fellow associates.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, management, and co-workers.
  • Ability to perform various functions within the Dealership Management system.

Physical Requirements
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to work in and out of doors/in a non-air-conditioned environment.
  • Able to stand for extended periods.
Independent Judgment
  • Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
