Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the daily upkeep and repair of the facilities, equipment, and property of Western Sand & Gravel, as well as providing transportation for products and equipment when necessary.

Adherence to the Company Safety Program and Policies is essential while performing duties safely. Reliable attendance is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the shop through regular maintenance, inspection, and repair of equipment and facilities.

• Accurately diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues with machinery in a timely manner.

• Work in a manufacturing environment that requires skills in welding, torching, cutting, and fabrication to build and maintain equipment while prioritizing safety.

• Maintain the shop, tools, equipment, and vehicles to ensure their availability and functionality.
• Request necessary parts, equipment, and supplies to maintain inventory levels.

• Transport products or equipment to other plants or affiliated companies as needed.

• Operate sand and gravel machinery as required to support work activities, including the use of skid-loaders, forklifts, and loaders around the plant and dredge.
• Respond to emergency situations as needed to address immediate safety concerns.
• Transport various items (e.g., tools, equipment, supplies) to ensure the availability of materials at job sites.
• Assist in performing preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Operate the plant according to production schedules to ensure proper sequencing of operations.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of plant facilities and notify appropriate personnel of any issues.
• Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Three years of experience in metal fabrication, six months of related mechanical experience, and prior commercial truck driving experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Certificates and Licenses

• A valid Commercial Driver's License (Class A) is advantageous.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to occasionally lift/move items weighing between 25-70 pounds.

• Proficiency in operating hand tools; welding and cutting torch skills are preferred.

• Basic knowledge of the operation and maintenance of small diesel engines and standard motor vehicles.

• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to apply common sense to analyze and resolve problems.

• Must be capable of working with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative in investigating and resolving issues.

• Flexibility regarding work assignments is essential.
