Mechanic I J - HVAC Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair tasks on all types and styles of evaporative cooling, gas heating, air handling, air exhausting, air compressing equipment and related devices.
  • Communicate with school site-based personnel to keep them informed of equipment status.
  • Ensure service vehicles are clean, orderly, and properly stocked.
  • Process assigned paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized HVAC shop.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent required.
  • Valid Arizona driver's license required.
  • Minimum three years of experience in journey mechanic training or equivalent work experience with evaporative cooling units and air handling equipment.
  • Working knowledge of tools, materials, methods, and safe working practices of the trade.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot unit control circuits.
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints; understand and work with voltages up to 480V.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds; work from a height of up to 35 feet on personal lifts; climb ladders up to 30 feet to access rooftop equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.
