Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Secondary Education Program Supervisor will oversee the daily functions and initiatives at the designated high school. This position is designed to boost program engagement, guarantee the provision of exceptional activities, uphold a secure and nurturing atmosphere, and cultivate constructive relationships with the community, educational staff, and families. The supervisor will also manage personnel and volunteers, handle administrative responsibilities, and encourage the personal growth and development of participants.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Enhance Program Engagement

  • Achieve a target Average Daily Attendance (ADA) of 140 teens by promoting existing programs and introducing new initiatives.
  • Formulate and execute a recruitment strategy within the initial 60 days to enhance program visibility and participation.
  • Collaborate with the Area Director to recruit members for the high school and community center.

Deliver Quality Programs & Activities

  • Plan, organize, and implement a diverse range of program services and activities for teen members across five core areas: The Arts, Education & Career Development, Character & Leadership Development, Health & Life Skills, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation.
  • Develop an annual action plan, outlining objectives, primary activities, and assessment measures.
  • Provide regular program reports to the supervisor and maintain accurate attendance records using designated software.
  • Ensure program outcomes are monitored and reported quarterly.
  • Establish internal processes to enhance program delivery quality on a quarterly basis.

Ensure Safety and Quality Standards

  • Promote member safety, program quality, and site appearance consistently.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and maintain a clean and sanitary environment for youth and visitors.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections to meet compliance standards and address hazards promptly.

Supervise and Develop Staff & Volunteers

  • Recruit, train, support, and evaluate staff and volunteers to ensure effective performance.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and annual evaluations, delegating responsibilities effectively.
  • Ensure timely filling of open positions at the start of each program cycle.
  • Provide comprehensive orientation and training for new hires within the first month.
  • Implement retention strategies to minimize staff turnover.
  • Facilitate training sessions for staff annually.

Maintain Administrative Efficiency

  • Create and submit accurate attendance, financial, and program reports.
  • Collaborate with the Area Director to develop and monitor a budget that aligns with program needs.

Strengthen Community and School Partnerships

  • Engage in school staff meetings to foster positive relationships with educational personnel.
  • Maintain regular communication with school leaders and partners to disseminate program information.
  • Work with community organizations to enhance and expand youth programs.

Promote Member Growth and Development

  • Provide guidance and serve as a role model for members, encouraging positive behavior and leadership skills.
  • Develop strategies to address unsafe behaviors and ensure adherence to emergency procedures.

Evaluate and Enhance Programs

  • Analyze attendance data to identify trends and develop strategies to boost membership.
  • Assess opportunities for program improvement and communicate strategies for implementation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Youth Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role managing staff and youth programs.
  • Flexible schedule availability, including evenings and weekends.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet insurance standards.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and TB test.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Understanding of the mission and objectives of youth development organizations.
  • Innovative and proactive approach to improving operational processes.
  • Ability to supervise, train, and motivate staff effectively.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Hours will vary based on the school calendar and program needs, including evenings and weekends.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The role requires maintaining a stationary position and engaging in physical activities, including moving and reaching. Work environments may vary, involving both indoor and outdoor conditions.
