Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is a world-class research institution seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our team in the field of radiochemistry and actinide science.

About the Role:

We are looking for an individual with a strong background in radiochemistry, inorganic chemistry, or analytical chemistry, with expertise in actinide or lanthanide chemistry. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with wet chemistry operations, anion/cation exchange chromatography, and inorganic chemical or physical transformations.

The primary work location for this position is within the Radiochemical Processing Laboratory (RPL), a DOE hazard category 2 non-reactor nuclear facility. This unique research facility is supported by the DOE's Office of Science, and the primary mission is to conduct cutting-edge research on actinides or other high-dose radioactive and nuclear materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct independent research and work on team projects
  • Interact, communicate, and collaborate with a diverse team of research staff across PNNL
  • Presentation of research at technical conferences and project/program review meetings
  • Contribution to the development of research proposals

Requirements:

  • PhD in radiochemistry, inorganic chemistry, or analytical chemistry
  • Well-versed in actinide or lanthanide chemistry
  • Experience with wet chemistry and anion/cation exchange chromatography
  • A track record of planning, conducting, and reporting experimental work, evidenced by a growing list of peer-reviewed publications

Estimated Salary: $95,000 - $105,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include health insurance, flexible work schedules, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
