Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Director of Engineering Operations to join our team at Marriott. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for assisting the department head in managing the budget, capital expenditures, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in effectively planning, scheduling, and evaluating preventative maintenance programs.
  • Help establish priorities for total property maintenance needs.
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of Engineering.
  • Assist in managing the physical plant, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, and life safety systems.
  • Maintain and operate equipment at optimum effectiveness, efficiency, and safety.
  • Supervise the distribution of repair work orders.
  • Assist in maintaining grounds, meeting rooms, ballrooms, public space, restaurants, property vehicles, and recreational facilities as needed.
  • Act as a technical liaison for all departments in the property.
  • Supervise Engineering in the absence of the Director of Engineering.
  • Recommend or arrange for additional services such as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment.
  • Select and make purchases of new equipment, supplies, and furnishings.
  • Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of facilities to determine the type of work required.
  • Manage parts, supplies, and equipment inventories effectively by minimizing downtime and maximizing cash flow.
  • Perform inspections effectively.
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing new technologies, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assist in establishing and implementing an energy conservation program.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED; 4 years of experience in the engineering and maintenance or related professional area; technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing.
  • OR
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or related major; 2 years of experience in the engineering and maintenance or related professional area; technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing.
Benefits

Marriott offers a competitive salary range of $84,000 to $109,000 annually, a bonus program, comprehensive health care benefits, 401(k) plan with up to 5% company match, employee stock purchase plan at 15% discount, accrued paid time off (including sick leave where applicable), life insurance, group disability insurance, travel discounts, adoption assistance, paid parental leave, health savings account (except for positions based out of or performed in Hawaii), flexible spending accounts, tuition assistance, pre-tax commuter benefits, other life and work wellness benefits, and may include other incentives such as stock awards and deferred compensation plans.
