Senior Process Engineer, Stretch Blow Molding

SUMMARY: As a Senior Process Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our blow molding facilities. Your responsibilities will include managing direct reports, collaborating with the management team, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. You will also be responsible for daily communication with the management team and hourly employees to ensure the best utilization of time, production schedule, and cost.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Promote and execute safe work practices throughout the facility.
  2. Manage the set-up department to ensure timely and accurate completion of set-ups.
  3. Identify and correct mold issues by communicating with mold makers and recommending changes to optimize process and tooling sizes.
  4. Work with plant PDE to approve engineering on new tooling and molds.
  5. Maintain a listing of daily changes and report to the plant manager at the end of each month.
  6. Manage process technicians and set-up personnel while working closely with shift supervisors, operators, and quality personnel to ensure the production floor is running smoothly and efficiently.
  7. Collaborate with PDEs on new projects.
  8. Manage mold, head, barrel, and screw inventory.
  9. Maintain set-up documentation for all jobs.
  10. Train new employees and operators.
  11. Work closely with customer service, scheduling, engineering, and manufacturing manager on upcoming jobs and ensure all line components are available.
  12. Evaluate jobs that do not run to standard and work with appropriate personnel to bring them to standard.
  13. Provide support to the plant during off-hours as needed.
  14. Monitor performance and attendance of direct reports and administer accordingly.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Good safety, attendance, and job performance record.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a blow molding facility, preferably working with shuttle equipment.
  • Working knowledge of blow molding tooling and components.
  • Ability to demonstrate high-quality and quantity of work.
  • Knowledge of plant procedures and equipment use.
  • Extent to which team members identify and correct errors, initiate work activities, assume responsibility, and anticipate needs.
  • Extent to which team members complete work assignments, meet schedules, and follow established policies and procedures.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Excellent knowledge of Bekum, SIG, or Sabmann blow molders.
  • Understanding of blow molding methods and logic.
  • Basic electrical knowledge.
  • Proficient in hydraulic systems.
  • Proficient in pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to assess job tasks and prioritize those tasks when conditions change.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate and train effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to troubleshoot blow molding processing issues and effectively resolve them.
  • Forklift License.
EDUCATION:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE:
  • 3-5 years of experience in a blow molding facility, preferably working with shuttle equipment.
