Position Summary:

As a Community Living Instructor, you will play a vital role in guiding participants towards greater independence and safety within their communities.

Qualifications:

  • A combination of relevant experience and education may be considered.
  • Demonstrated competency in the training areas we cover.
  • Reliable transportation and valid auto insurance are required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • COVID-19 vaccination and booster required.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Clearance for tuberculosis within 30 days of hire.
  • Department of Justice fingerprint clearance prior to employment.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening.
  • Certification as an IHSS provider in the relevant counties within 30 days of hire.
  • Preferred experience in behavioral training and knowledge of the Regional Center System for individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • References from previous employers are necessary.
  • Commitment to maintaining all required certifications and clearances as per agency policy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement educational programs tailored to individual needs.
  • Facilitate both individual and group learning experiences to help participants achieve their Individual Program Plan (IPP) goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of participant progress.
  • Engage in assessment, planning, and evaluation processes for participants.
  • Prepare instructional materials for Independent Living Skills Training sessions.
  • Schedule sessions in accordance with each participant's Individual Service Plan.
  • Provide in-home training and support in areas such as financial management, nutrition, cooking, emergency preparedness, and community resources.
  • Coordinate training with other programs to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Keep participant documentation current and organized.
  • Assist participants in navigating various services and benefits.
  • Attend regular staff meetings and one-on-one sessions with supervisors.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and lift objects up to 40 pounds.
