Part-Time Child Trauma Specialist

La Rabida Children's Hospital is seeking a part-time Child Trauma Specialist for our Behavioral Health Division and Chicago Child Trauma Center (CCTC). Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for patients facing complex conditions, disabilities, and chronic illnesses. Role Summary:

The Child Trauma Specialist will deliver outpatient psychological services to children affected by psychological trauma and their families. Outreach services may also be provided as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties: - 80%

  • Deliver direct trauma-focused outpatient psychological services, including clinical assessments and both short- and long-term psychotherapy for children who have experienced various traumatic events.
  • May receive cross-training to offer additional clinical services.
  • Provide clinical services to diverse populations as needed based on service demand.

Additional Responsibilities: - 20%

  • Offer outreach and training services as required.
  • Prepare assessments, quarterly reports, treatment plans, and progress notes within designated time frames.
  • Ensure all documentation, including reports and progress notes, is completed promptly.
  • Participate in peer support groups, staffing, case conferences, and similar activities.
  • Complete and submit monthly service forms.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, MSW, or MA in Clinical/Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or a related field is required.
  • Bi-Lingual Spanish proficiency is highly preferred.
  • Licensure as LCSW (for social workers), LCPC (for counselors), or Licensed Clinical Psychologist (for psychologists) is preferred.
  • Candidates must possess substantial training and experience in diagnostic and therapeutic work with children who have experienced trauma, with a commitment to serving urban families of color.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, along with computer literacy, are essential. Experience with various treatment techniques for abused children is necessary, with a preference for familiarity with child-parent psychotherapy and children exhibiting sexual behavior issues.
  • Evening and weekend availability may be required.
