Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Specialist to join our team at SUNY Upstate Medical University. As a Laboratory Specialist, you will be responsible for performing various automated, semi-automated, and manual procedures in the Core Laboratory. This will include routine Hematology and Chemistry testing, as well as maintaining records of testing and interacting with providers to discuss test results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine Hematology and Chemistry testing following established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain records of testing, including patient results, proficiency testing, quality control, instrument calibrations, inventory, pending logs, and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Interact with providers to discuss test results and laboratory procedures.
  • Resolve problems in testing, procedures, or processes relating to the laboratory.

Requirements:

  • Clinical Laboratory Technologist NYS license or limited permit to practice.
  • Two years of clinical lab experience required.
  • Ability to distinguish colors for the purposes of performing laboratory testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS in Medical Technology.

Work Environment:

This is a full-time position at SUNY Upstate Medical University. The successful candidate will be working in a fast-paced laboratory environment and will be required to work independently and as part of a team.
