Computer Hardware Technician

The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) is a renowned technology development consortium that drives innovation and competitiveness in the U.S. industrial base. We are seeking an experienced IT Support Specialist to join our team in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
This hybrid role (3 days at the office/2 remote days) offers an excellent opportunity to work with a world-class team and contribute to the advancement of U.S. industrial competitiveness. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support to NCMS staff, maintaining and troubleshooting IT infrastructure, and ensuring compliance with software license agreements.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical assistance to NCMS staff regarding IT hardware, software, and end-user training.
- Maintain and troubleshoot IT infrastructure, including laptops, desktops, servers, printers, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
- Configure and install Windows operating systems and applications.
- Ensure compliance with software license agreements and maintain accurate records of hardware and software inventory.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must have or be eligible to obtain a government security clearance.
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless legally exempt.
- Experience with Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365 suite applications.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Thorough knowledge of PC and server hardware.
- Network fundamentals & components (LAN/WAN, routers, hubs, etc.)
- Basic understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, 802.11, HTTP, FTP, etc.).
- Minimum of 1 year of hardware and software diagnostic experience.
- Ability to transport heavy equipment boxes (up to 80 lbs.).
- Proactive, self-driven, and able to resolve problems with minimal direction.
- Strong ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills essential.
Estimated salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per annum, based on location and experience.
