About the Role

The University of California, Berkeley is seeking an experienced Academic HR Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for providing strategic advice and counsel to department managers, chairs, and directors on academic personnel policies, procedures, and practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Department HR Policy Expert: Provide strategic advice and counsel to department managers, chairs, and directors on academic personnel policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Berkeley Regional Services (BRS) and UC Path Liaison: Submit ERSO requests for UC Path/payroll transactions for all faculty, emeriti, lecturers, and ASEs.
  • Academic Review Processes: Facilitate and manage the academic review processes, including preparation of all senate and non-senate academic personnel actions.
  • Student Academic Titles: Work closely with the Director of Student Services and the Regional HR Team to ensure the correct and timely hires of all student academic titles.
  • Faculty Search Committee Support: Support faculty search committees in drafting search plans and search reports, placing advertisements in approved sources, and tracking applications.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Thorough knowledge of and ability to apply/interpret organization and college policies and procedures that govern academic HR.
  • Excellent critical and innovative thinking to address complex issues and present nuanced analyses.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality, using sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of trends in academia, especially in areas of academic planning, human resource management, and administration.
  • Knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
Salary and Benefits

The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $74,300 to $99,000 yearly, commensurate with experience.
