Radiology Operations Director

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating radiology services for all assigned facilities. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert and technical resource for the region in designated specialized areas. Key responsibilities include designing and overseeing highly reliable imaging operations, ensuring quality of care, quality of member experience, affordability, standard work, and employee experience and competence.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Direct radiology operations by planning, implementing, and monitoring short and long-term actions consistent with the organization's mission and strategic plan, as well as the department's mission and strategic objectives.
  • Integrate radiology service goals with the goals of the organization.
  • Responsible for and monitors imaging performance on key indicators, including affordability, quality, and service.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum five (5) years of clinical radiology experience required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of leadership experience in a clinical radiology setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in radiological science, healthcare, or a related field, or four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Nuclear Medical Technologist Certification (Hawaii) from Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Certificate, or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate, or Radiologic Technologist Certification, or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Radiography.
Additional Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of clinical computer systems, PC computer skills, and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory (state and federal) agency requirements and professional practice standards.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the function of a radiology department.
  • Thorough knowledge of principles of supervision, management, personnel management, financial analysis, and budgeting.
  • Experience in financial management, program development, quality improvement, and project management.
  • Demonstrates customer-focused service skills.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and problem-solve.
  • Demonstrated ability to use good judgment and decision-making, responding calmly and effectively in crisis situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict.
  • Demonstrated understanding and support for diversity in the workplace.
  • Ability to think globally and provide line of sight from regional strategy to front-line staff.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills are required in building programs to support and maintain medical staff, administrative, and community relationships.
  • May be required to work one weekend a month.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Behavioral interviewing experience.
  • Experience in Labor/Management Partnership environment.
  • Continued involvement in national, state, and local professional organization(s).
  • Proven ability to organize and manage radiology operations.
  • Demonstrated strengths in decision-making in a consensus environment and collaborative management style.
  • Kaiser Permanente experience.
  • Masters degree in radiological science, healthcare, or a related field.
