Relm Insurance Solutions Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Controller to lead our accounting operations in the United States. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, finance, and insurance, with a proven track record of success in financial planning, analysis, and reporting. Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger

• Reconcile insurance premium receivables and payables to ensure accuracy and completeness

• Prepare and submit state surplus line tax filings

• Calculate annual U.S. income taxes

• Perform monthly and year-end close procedures

• Assist in the development and monitoring of internal controls

• Prepare and analyze financial reports for management

• Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes

• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations

• Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and provide support as needed

• Participate in audits and provide documentation as requested

• Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and regulations

• Coordinate with external tax advisors to optimize tax strategies and minimize tax liabilities

• Conduct tax research and analysis to stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations

• Prepare and maintain documentation for tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities

• Collaborate with underwriting and claims departments to analyze and report on insurance related financial metrics

• Stay abreast of developments in insurance accounting standards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

• Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements and filings for insurance regulators

Requirements:

• BA in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred

• 10 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with 2+ years in a supervisory position

• 5+ years of experience working in Insurance is required

• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements

• Experience with US tax filings and insurance regulatory requirements

• Proficiency in accounting software. Experience with MS Business Central is a plus

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Proficiency in MS Office applications with advanced Excel knowledge
