Job Summary

CrescentCare is seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing and recording of payroll, general ledger reconciliations, and grant accounting.

Responsibilities
  • Payroll Processing: Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of bi-weekly payroll and related deductions.
  • Payroll Software Management: Responsible for maintaining the data housed in the Payroll and Time Management modules of the payroll software (earnings, deductions, sick & vacation accruals, labor allocations, workers compensation rates, etc.).
  • Benefit Invoices: Responsible for reconciling and approving benefit invoices for payment.
  • General Ledger Accounting: Responsible for recording payroll and payroll accruals in accounting software.
  • Payroll Reconciliations: Responsible for monthly reconciliation of payroll general ledger accounts to payroll reports.
  • Employment Verification: Responsible for responding to employment/loan forgiveness verification requests for active and terminated employees.
  • Grant Reporting: Responsible for maintaining and reporting on allocations in payroll for grants and other funding sources.
  • Staff Communication: Responsible for communicating with staff on areas regarding their benefit deductions and any other payroll inquiries.
  • Confidentiality: Responsible for maintaining strict confidentiality.
Accountabilities
  • Timely Payroll Processing: Timely and accurate processing of bi-weekly payroll including updates to benefit deductions.
  • Payroll Journal Entry: Bi-weekly preparation of payroll journal entry and uploading into Financial Edge for approval and posting.
  • Benefit Invoices: Bi-weekly uploads of H.S.A. and 401(k) deductions.
  • Monthly Reconciliations: Monthly reconciling of benefit invoices, including entering into Financial Edge for payment approval.
  • Grant Invoices: Monthly preparation of grant invoices and support documentation.
  • Journal Entries: Prepares journal entries to correct salary allocations and related benefits.
  • Time and Effort Certification: Monthly preparation of time and effort certification reporting.
  • 941 and W-3 Reconciliation: Reviews and reconciles the 941s and W-3 for accuracy.
  • Employment Verification: Accurately prepares employment/loan forgiveness verifications.
  • Payroll Software Expertise: Serves as the subject matter expert on the payroll software including the development of efficient processes in accordance with industry best practices.
  • Compliance: Ensures organization is in compliance with payroll related laws and regulations.
  • Health Savings Account: Oversees the Health Savings Account program including assisting employees with enrollment.
  • W-2 Forms: Oversees the review and issuance of employees' W-2 forms.
  • Annual Open Enrollment: Participates actively in the annual open enrollment for employee benefits. Works closely with HR to ensure accurate deductions related to open enrollment.
  • 401k Audit: Participates actively in the annual 401k audit.
  • Month-End Closing: Assists with timely and accurate month-end closing procedures.
  • Standard Operating Procedures: Assists and contributes to the development and improvement of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Finance Department Meetings: Actively participates in and contributes to the monthly finance department meetings.
  • General Accounting: Assist with other general accounting work of the agency as needed.
