Job Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Academic Support Specialist to cover a maternity leave in New Jersey. This temporary position will involve working in a resource room and providing in-class support for 9th and 10th graders.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a High School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher covering a maternity leave in New Milford, NJ. The selected candidate will work in a resource room setting, providing academic support to students in grades 9 and 10.

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Support: Teach English language arts in a resource room setting for grade 9 students and provide in-class support for four classes of 9th and 10th graders.
  • IEP Collaboration: Write Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFPs) and develop goals/objectives, attending IEP meetings and collaborating with other educators to support student success.
  • Lesson Planning: Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, utilizing strong communication and organizational skills.

Requirements:

  • A degree in English, Education, or a related field is required.
  • Valid teaching certification in English/High School ELA in New Jersey is essential.
  • Experience working with high school students and knowledge of IEP processes are preferred.
