Job Summary:

The Associate Dean of Nursing is a key leadership position responsible for the overall development and operation of the Nursing Department at Long Island University. This role requires a strong academic leader who can provide oversight for undergraduate and graduate nursing programs, manage day-to-day operations, and plan for student admission, progression, retention, and advisement activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic leadership and oversight for undergraduate and graduate nursing programs.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Nursing Department.
  • Plan with faculty and committees for student admission, progression, retention, and advisement activities.
  • Assist the Dean in recruiting and selecting nursing faculty and staff.
  • Advise and counsel students, mediate problems between students and faculty.
  • Take over responsibilities of the School in the Dean's absence.
  • Special projects as defined by the Dean.

Requirements:

  • Doctorate in nursing or related field plus master's degree in nursing.
  • Five to eight years related professional experience, demonstrated leadership qualities, administrative, and teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching and administrative experience in a baccalaureate or higher degree program.
  • Credentials at the rank of Assistant Professor.
  • Expertise in writing grant proposals and/or conducting research.
  • Excellent leadership, supervision, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Registered Nurse licensed in New York State.
