Job Summary:
The Associate Dean of Nursing is a key leadership position at Long Island University, responsible for the overall development and operation of the educational programs in the Nursing Department. This role requires a strong academic leader who can provide oversight and guidance to faculty and staff, as well as coordinate activities with the Dean to achieve the education and community service missions of the School.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide academic leadership and oversight for undergraduate and graduate nursing programs, ensuring alignment with university and departmental goals.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the School, including faculty recruitment, student admission, progression, retention, and advisement activities.
- Plan and implement strategies for student success, including academic support services and career development initiatives.
- Assist the Dean in the recruitment and selection of nursing faculty and staff, ensuring a diverse and talented team.
- Advise and counsel students, providing guidance on academic and career goals.
- Take on responsibilities of the School in the Dean's absence, ensuring continuity and stability.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as defined by the Dean, contributing to the growth and development of the School.
Requirements:
- Earned doctorate in nursing or a related field, plus a master's degree in nursing.
- Five to eight years of related professional experience, demonstrating leadership qualities, administrative and teaching experience.
- Prior teaching and administrative experience in a baccalaureate or higher degree program.
- Credentials at the rank of at least Assistant Professor.
- Expertise in writing grant proposals and/or conducting research.
- Excellent skills in leadership, supervision, written and oral communication skills.
- Registered Nurse licensed in New York State.
